You also don't need to use a 2T drive as the replacement unless that is your preference. If you are getting 6T parity, why not get a 6T data drive and copy the 2T drive, filling it 1/3. Ultimately this will increase your max capacity and reduce your drive count. When you copy the data over, suggest copy and not move.
Jan 29, 2018 · A couple of caveats for the Unraid solution. I’m quoting this with a cache drive in use, this means your two largest drives have to be the parity and cache. While this isn’t mandatory I’ve found write performance without a cache to be very low and a warm spare is great so for my use case it’s the only way I run Unraid anymore.

Jun 12, 2020 · When a drive is added to a parity-protected unRAID array, it is first cleared by writing zeroes to all bits of all sectors of that drive. A zero value will not impact parity. Once the new drive is full of zeros, unRAID can silently slip it into the array without needing to rebuild parity. Several disks can be added simultaneously in this way.
